Horizon School proposes a new approach to educational spaces, where architecture moves beyond the traditional model of classrooms and corridors to become a dynamic environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and experiential learning.
Located in Jacó, Costa Rica, the project emerges from an educational vision that recognizes the importance of community, nature, and the holistic development of students. Its architectural design translates these principles into flexible, open, and interconnected spaces that adapt to different ways of teaching, learning, and interacting.
The building’s spatial organization encourages a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor environments, integrating gathering, learning, and recreational areas into a unified educational experience. Learning studios replace the rigidity of conventional classrooms with adaptable furniture arrangements that support individual work, collaborative activities, and experimentation. Shared spaces, open circulation areas, and sports facilities expand opportunities for interaction, turning everyday movement through the building into an opportunity for learning.
